Spam Filters
Learn more about spam filters - exactly what they are, the way they work and how to set up one.
An email filter is a software application that is installed on a POP3/IMAP email server and keeps track of all incoming emails to stop any unsolicited ones from reaching a particular mailbox. A few instances of such email messages would be: offers for pills or money, false bank notices or attachments that contain malicious software sent with the idea of damaging your personal computer. Spam filters usually check the content of an email message and if they come across some keywords or other dubious content, they either delete the message or deliver it to the Junk/Spam folder instead of the Inbox folder. Certain hosting providers combine their own email filters with up-to-the-minute databases from spam-tracing organizations, so as to guarantee better safety for their clients. Such databases include patterns, mail server IP addresses and other information about spam email messages recently detected by these organizations.

Spam Filters in Hosting
If you get a
hosting plan from our company and if you take advantage of our mail services, you’ll be able to activate spam filtering for any of the mailboxes that you set up from the Email Manager section of your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. With just several mouse clicks, you can select between 5 separate security levels. If you start receiving spam, you can begin with the lowest level and then gradually increase the level until you stop receiving spam. We make use of one of the best and most popular email filters out there called SpamAssassin. It analyzes the header section and the body of each message that you receive and calculates a spam score, based on which it either deletes a particular email or allows it to reach your mailbox. The Hepsia Control Panel will also permit you to create custom email filters and either erase unasked-for email messages or send them to a third-party email address like spam@domain.com where you can view them once more after that.

Spam Filters in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Our
semi-dedicated server packages come with top-of-the-line anti-spam protection ensured by the popular SpamAssassin anti-spam filter, which rates all inbound emails based on a spam score in accordance with parameters and patterns, such as the frequency of specific keywords and phrases, the subject, the sender, etc. When you enable the filter for any account via the Email Manager section of your Hepsia Control Panel, you can choose between five separate safety levels – from very low to very high. If you still get spam messages, you can raise the level, or if authentic messages are classified as spam, you can decrease it. Enabling or disabling the anti-spam protection requires as little as two mouse clicks and you can select if the filtered email messages should be erased instantaneously or if they should be re-sent to a chosen email address where you can check them later, so as to ensure that the messages that you need won’t disappear.
