Data corruption is the damage of data due to various software or hardware failures. After a file gets corrupted, it will no longer function accurately, so an app will not start or will give errors, a text file will be partially or entirely unreadable, an archive file will be impossible to open and then unpack, etc. Silent data corruption is the process of info getting harmed without any identification by the system or an admin, that makes it a serious problem for hosting servers as problems are very likely to happen on larger in size hard drives where considerable volumes of info are placed. When a drive is a part of a RAID and the data on it is duplicated on other drives for redundancy, it is likely that the bad file will be treated as an ordinary one and it will be copied on all of the drives, making the harm permanent. Lots of the file systems which run on web servers today often are not able to identify corrupted files immediately or they need time-consuming system checks through which the server isn't working.
No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Hosting
The integrity of the data that you upload to your new hosting account shall be ensured by the ZFS file system that we employ on our cloud platform. The vast majority of internet hosting service providers, like our firm, use multiple hard disks to store content and considering that the drives work in a RAID, identical data is synchronized between the drives all the time. If a file on a drive gets corrupted for reasons unknown, however, it's very likely that it will be duplicated on the other drives as other file systems do not include special checks for that. In contrast to them, ZFS employs a digital fingerprint, or a checksum, for each and every file. In case a file gets damaged, its checksum will not match what ZFS has as a record for it, so the bad copy shall be replaced with a good one from another drive. As this happens immediately, there's no risk for any of your files to ever be corrupted.
No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Your semi-dedicated hosting account will be shielded from silent data corruption since all of our storage servers use the advanced ZFS file system. What makes the aforementioned unique is that it uses checksums, or digital identifiers, so as to ensure the integrity of each file. When you upload content to your account, it will be stored on several redundant drives in a RAID i.e. the files shall be the same across all drives. All the copies of a particular file will feature the same checksum on all hard drives and ZFS will compare the checksums of the copies in real time, and if it registers a mismatch, that will indicate that one of the copies is corrupted, it will substitute that file with a good copy from one of the other disks. Even if there is an unexpected power loss, the data on the servers will not be corrupted and there will not be any need for a time-consuming system check that other file systems perform after some malfunction, prolonging the time needed for the server to go back online. ZFS is the file system which can really protect your content from silent data corruption.
